Across the Piedmont, 30 farms are gearing up for the 29th annual Piedmont Farm Tour on April 25 and 26, including nine in Alamance County.
Visitors with paid admission are welcome to come and go as they please from participating farms from 2 to 6 p.m, with some “kickoff” farms opening their doors as early as 12 p.m.
There are four new farms on the tour this year, and all of them are located in Alamance County: Flower of Carolina in Graham, Green Heal Farm in Snow Camp, Piedmont Agrarian Collaborative in Burlington, and YESA Farm in Mebane.

The returning farms are Benevolence Farm in Graham, Full Plate Farm in Snow Camp, Haw River Mushrooms in Graham, Stoney Mountain Farm in Burlington and The Farm at Common Ground Ecovillage in Mebane.
The Piedmont Farm Tour is a family-friendly event, hosted by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) and Weaver Street Market, celebrating sustainable, local food and farming in the region. It is the largest sustainable farm tour in the United States, drawing over 2,000 visitors each year, CFSA stated in a press release.
“Many of these farms are not typically open to the public, making this a unique opportunity for visitors to discover how local food, flowers, fibers, and fungi are cultivated — and to meet the dedicated stewards of the land,” Mary Beth Miller at Carolina Farm Stewardship Association told The Alamance Fabric in an email.
Tour passes come in the form of a “Support Local Farms” button sold for $35 in advance (or $25 for CFSA and Weaver Street Market members). This covers “a carload” of people, including the passholder, for the entire weekend. Buttons are $40 on the day of and can be purchased on site at any of the farms on the tour. Single farm passes are also available for $10.
Each stop on the tour offers an immersive, hands-on experience, according to CFSA. Visitors can witness and participate in local agriculture as well as meet the farmers to learn about their farming practices. Event organizers say this helps visitors understand the journey of their food from the field to the table.

“This event supports farmers by promoting their businesses and directly engaging citizens in sustainable agriculture, thereby strengthening community partnerships, the local economy, and environmental stewardship,” Miller said.
