At NC Local, our journalism is produced to inform North Carolinians about how statewide policy decisions affect communities across the state. We encourage the republication of our work by other news organizations under the terms below.

Use our stories for free — with attribution

Unless otherwise noted, NC Local’s content is available for republication under a Creative Commons license and the below terms. You may republish our stories online or in print for free as long as you:

1. Credit NC Local clearly and prominently, including using NC Local’s logo in the byline.

2. Link back to the original story & include tracking pixel.

3. Do not edit or alter the story’s content, except for basic style or time references (e.g., changing “yesterday” to “last week”).

4. Keep all links within the story.

5. Keep all NC Local content in front of paywalls.

6. Do not resell or syndicate our content to third parties.

7. When promoting the content, tag us on social media.

How to credit NC Local

• Bylines should credit NC Local, using this format: [NC Local Logo] “By [name of reporter], NC Local.”

• Please include this line at the bottom of the  story:

• For print editions, include the same credit language and our website URL.

Use our tracking pixel and/or alert us of print publication

When republishing online, you must include our tracking pixel so we can track reach and engagement. The pixel is automatically included with each story. Please do not remove or alter it.

If you republish a story in print, please email us at republish@nclocal.org with:

• The name of your publication

• The publication date

• A PDF or photo of the page where the story appeared​​

Do not edit the story, except for minor stylistic changes

• While you may not make substantial edits to content, you can make changes to time and location references and other minor style revisions.

• You must also keep all hyperlinks originally included in the content.

Our republication policy applies to text and images and graphics that are credited to NC Local.

• Republication is intended to support public access to trustworthy journalism. You may not sell our stories or republish them behind a paywall.
