Overview:

With spots filling up across the county, families looking to snag a spot for their child or teen this summer should be proactive. Registration for many local summer camps is open now. Here is a guide to 2026 summer day camps and other enrichment options across Alamance County this summer.

Municipal Parks & Recreation Camps

Burlington Recreation & Parks

  • Day camps:
    • Traditional, all-day camps
    • From June 15 to August 14, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (except Grove Park & Fairchild, which open at 7 a.m.)
      • For rising 1st graders to age 12: Camp Grove Park, Camp Overbrook, Camp Hillcrest, and Camp Fairchild
      • For rising 7th graders to age 14: Explorers for Teens at Thataways Youth Center
    • Fees for City of Burlington residents: First child is $85 per week; $75 per week for each subsequent child.

  • Specialty camps:
    • Specialty, one-week camps
      • Dates, times, age ranges and fees vary
      • Themes: Nature/Outdoors, Creative Arts, Teens, Culinary and Sports

  • Camp Green Leaves:
    • Only for children and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities
    • Spots are extremely limited, and participants tend to be returning campers
    • Registration by appointment and in person only from April 6 to April 27. Full details here

Graham Recreation & Parks

  • Day camp:
    • Traditional, all-day camp
    • From May 26 to August 21, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
      • Graham Recreation Center
      • For rising 1st graders to 7th graders
    • Fees for city of Graham residents: Range between $70 and $575 per child, depending on duration (1 week to 10 weeks) and number of children

  • Youth sports camps:
    • Evening sports instructional camps at Bill Cooke Park and the Graham Recreation Center
      • Lacrosse, basketball, and flag football

Mebane Recreation & Parks

  • Sports camps:
    • Multi-day sports camps at Mebane Recreation Center and various other community parks
      • Basketball, football, tennis, and volleyball
      • Dates, times, age ranges vary
    • Registration opens April 1 for Mebane residents ($45), and April 15 for the general public ($55)

Community and Faith-Based Options

Alamance County Community YMCA

  • Day camps:
    • Camp Horizons at ACYMCA
      • From June 15 to August 14, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  
      • For rising 1st grade through 6th grade
        • Mostly indoors with some outdoor play
    • Camp Frontier in Snow Camp
      • From June 15 to August 14, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
      • For rising 1st through rising 8th grade
        • Mostly outdoors
    • New: Kinder Camp
      • From June 15 to August 21, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      • For campers starting kindergarten in August 2026
        • Mostly indoors with some outdoor play
        • Space is limited

  • Sports camps:
    • Specialty, multi-day camps for ages 6 to 14
    • As of March 9, only basketball and volleyball options are listed as options on the ACYMA website. Click here for details and updates
  • Teen camps:
    • Leaders in Training
      • For rising 9th-grade and 10th-graders
      • “Designed to provide opportunities to develop and sharpen leadership skills”

Salvation Army 

  • Day camp:
    • Traditional, all-day camp
    • Between June and August, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
      • Held at the Red Shield Youth Center located at 807 Stockard St., in Burlington
      • For rising 1st graders to 7th graders

Gymnastics & Movement Camps

Kidsport Gymnastics Academy

  • Day camp:
    • Traditional, all-day camps
    • From May 26 to August 21, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
      • For potty-trained rising kindergartners to age 13

Leaping Legends Gymnastics

  • Day camp:
    • Weekly from June 8 to Aug. 14, Monday through Friday
      • Full day: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($225 per week)
      • Half day: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ($155 per week)
      • For rising 1st graders through age 12

Specialty, Arts & Academic Camps

Miss Kim’s Children’s Dance & Arts

  • Themed camps:
    • Weekly from May 26 to Aug. 14
      • Full (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and half-day (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) camps
      • Themes include dance, art, STEM, Spanish, acrobatics, and “boys only”
    • Age ranges, dates, and fees (between $138 and $230 per week) vary. For full details and registration, click here

Burlington Academy of Dance & Arts

  • Themed dance camps:
    • Weekly from June 15 to Aug. 7
      • Full day: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($250 per camp)
      • Half-day 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ($175 per camp)
      • Themes include Narnia, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and Oz.

Alamance Fine Arts Academy

  • Specialty camps:
    • Camps focused on art, theatre, voice, and dance.
    • Dates, times, age ranges (3 to 11+) and fees vary depending on the camp theme and duration.

Young Musicians of Alamance (YMA)

  • Summer Music Camp:
    • July 13 to July 17, 2026, and July 20 to 24, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Fees: A one-week session is $300 per student. Two-week sessions are $500 per student. Financial aid and multiple family discounts are available upon request
    • For students in grades 1 through 12

Studio 1

  • Theater camps:
    • Weekly from June 8 to Aug. 2
    • Themes include Legally Blonde Jr., Winnie The Pooh, Tech Camp and the Snow Camp Outdoor Theater Camp.

Alamance Community College (ACC)

  • Day camps:
    • Weekly from June 8 to Aug. 7
    • Full (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and half-day (9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) camps available
      • For middle schoolers and high schoolers (ages 11 to 18)
    • Fees range between $80 and $160 per week

Elon University Summer Programs

  • Phoenix Summer:
    • An immersive two-week residential camp for any rising high school juniors and seniors, featuring college-style courses and experiences
    • July 6 to 17, 2026
    • Cost & enrollment: $4,000
  • AI Play:
    • A computer science day camp for rising 6th through 8th graders focusing on video game design, coding, and artificial intelligence
    • June 15-19, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • $500 (includes daily lunch)
  • Sports camps:
    • Multi-day sports camps at Elon University
      • The website lists baseball, basketball, football, boys soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, lacrosse, dance and cheerleading camps. However, as of March 9, only football (opening March 10), boys soccer and tennis academy are active.
